Using ICT

All classrooms are fitted with Interactive Whiteboards and Desktop computers.  All children have access to a mobile laptop suite.  Opportunites are offered to enable pupils to make good use of the Internet facilities available to support and enhance their investigative work.  ICT is used to complement teaching and learning across the whole curriculum.  Pupils are also involved in the CCEA ‘Information Technology Accreditation Scheme’.

More recently, pupils have been given the opportunity to use video-conferencing facilities in the school, and links have been established with other schools in Northern Ireland.  This has allowed the children to take part in organised collaborative, peer-to-peer teaching and learning.

A focus in St. MacNissi’s is to encourage the children to use ICT in many different areas of the curriculum from an early age, and the decision to bring the ICT Accreditation Scheme into Key Stage 1 exemplifies this.
