17th June 2010

Well done to all our Key Stage 2 pupils who took part in a hugely successful performance of our Leavers’ Play: The Sound of Music!  The singing, drama and all-round camaraderie was phenomenal!

Congratulations to our Primary 3 pupils who had their Enrolment Ceremony for their Sacrament of Reconciliation today!  The Ceremony, which took place in the Assembly Hall,  was attended by family members, and presided over by our chaplain, Fr. Beagan and the Primary 3 teacher, Miss McCallan.

8th February 2010

Today and tomorrow our Primary 4 pupils are renewing their acquaintance with the Primary 4 pupils of Christ The Redeemer Primary School in Lagmore.  This is being made possible through the use of video-conferencing hardware, software and ‘know-how’ that both our schools possess.  This means that we can view, appraise and share our thoughts and opinions on each other’s topic work.  So not only is our work cross-curricular, it’s great fun too!

26th January 2010

Oh no!  We nearly had disaster on our hands today!  The gingerbreadmen that our Reception class pupils were making all managed to escape and scattered throughout the school, hiding in lots of secret spaces!  Luckily, after some hard sleuthing work done on the part of the Reception children, the crafty gingerbreadmen were all safely captured, returned to the Reception area and promptly eaten!

13th January 2010

- Primary 7 went to Stormont today with some Primary 7 pupils from Mossley P.S. as part of their participation in EMU.  Although they didn’t get to chat to any of our more well-known politicians, (who were undoubtedly very busy with their ministerial duties) they gained an insight into how democracy works, and how voting is so important.  Also, some pupils revealed their talents as budding future politicians!

12th January 2010

- PANTO TIME!  Yes, today our entire school went to the Grand Opera House to see the pantomime, ‘Aladdin’, and the general consensus was that it was fantastic!  Some Primary 2 pupils said that their favourite part was the 3D effects, and a Primary 6 pupil was heard saying that the jokes this year were “the funniest ever!”

11th January 2010

- St. MacNissis welcomes for the first time a number of new pupils into our Reception class.  This is their first day at St. MacNissi’s and we hope that they settle in well.

7th January 2010

- Happy New Year!  Despite the cold, snowy weather, our school reopened today and most of the children arrived with smiles on their faces, ready for the new year and indeed, the new term.

17th December 2009

- Our Reception children had their turn wowing their parents with a beautiful play about the Christmas Story, complete with actions, acting and singing.  They have been practicing hard for this event, which turned out to be a great success – there were plenty of smiles all round on the faces of parents, teachers and children!

16th December 2009

- Today was a big day in St. MacNissi’s School Calendar – it was the Key Stage 1 Nativity Play, which was called ‘Hosanna Rock!‘  We were treated to a more contemporary version of the Christmas Story, complete with 10 original songs, wonderful acting and drama, and funny jokes.  Some students from Edmund Rice College came down and recorded the entire play for us, so we look forward to seeing how that turns out.

15th December 2009

- Our school choir was invited to sing at Iniscoole Day Centre to its users and everybody was absolutely delighted by how it went!  This was our 3rd year singing at Iniscoole, and its director has already extended an invitation to us for next year.

13th December 2009

- Well done to the Primary 7 pupils who continued with their preperation for Confirmation with their attendance and contribution to their Mass of Commitment which took place today in St. MacNissi’s Churxh at 10:30am.  The school choir provided the singing, and members of the Irish Traditional Group provided instrumental music at the Offertory.

10th December 2009

- Today our school choir travelled to the Northcott Shopping Centre to sing Christmas Carols.  We sang for almost 45 minutes and entered into the festive spirit by wearing Santa and reindeer hats!  At the end, many people came up and said we sang really well, and congratulated us on our choice of songs.

2nd December 2009

- Today is our Christmas Dinner!  Because it has proved so popular, we had to change our lunch times and have one large sitting in the Assembly Hall for the dinners and the lunches are being eaten in the classrooms.  Even the teachers are taking part and having a Christmas Dinner!  In fact, not counting the teachers, 138 dinners will be served today – a record high!

1st December 2009

- The Primary7 pupils have been invited to watch the Annual Musical, ‘Mugsy Balone‘, hosted by Edmund Rice Secondary School.

- There is great excitement all around as the Backdrop went up first thing this morning for the Key Stage 1 Nativity Play!

- A Poker Night was held in St. Enda’s GAC.  A great evening’s entertainment was had by the large amount of people who attended.  A big ‘thank you’ to all who came along!

26th November 2009

- The Primary 7 pupils were invited to go to the switching on of Mossley Christmas Tree lights, which took place today at 2:00pm.  Despite the freezing cold weather, they all enjoyed the good spirits and exercised their voices singing some carols!

11th November 2009

- Aideen from ‘Childline’ visited our school today for the final time to thank us for the huge amount of money that was raised for the NSPCC and Childline.  We raised the grand total of £2131.22!  Well done to everybody!

9th November 2009

- Fr. Beagan is meeting all the parents from the 3 Sacramental classes, (that is P3, P4 & P7) to discuss the theology and practicalities of each of the Sacraments.  This meeting takes place in the Assembly Hall at 7:30pm tonight.
